dr. sc. Darko Babić

Dr. sc. Darko Babić works as an assistant professor at the Sub-Department of Museology, Department of Information and Communication Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia. He is acting Chair of the National Committee of International Council of Museums (ICOM Croatia) and extremely active in the ICOM’s International Committee for the Training of Personnel (ICOM-ICTOP) as well as ICOMOS’s International Committee on Interpretation and Presentation of Cultural Heritage Sites (in both as acting vice-chair). He is among one of the founders (in 2009) of the Interpret Europe – European Association for Heritage Interpretation, where he served, from 2010 to 2019, as a member of the Supervisory Board, for three consecutive terms. Darko has been the national leader on two European Commission funded R&D projects within the heritage/museum sector. Besides his academic career from 2016, he actively acts as an entrepreneur within the Croatian/SE Europe museum/heritage sector by running a privately-owned consulting company specialized in culture and media delivering (among other tasks) numerous interpretive plans and museological programs, as well as acting as a permanent reviewer and advisor of diverse heritage projects or scientific journals. His main professional interests are most and foremost connected to the fields of heritage interpretation and heritage management, as well as sustainable development in the digital age.
